Emma is a singer-songwriter from Long Island, New York and a Berklee College of Music graduate. Born into a musical family, she was immersed in music before she could talk. Her mother was a singer and her father a jazz trombonist. She played her first trombone duet with her father by the age of four, and recorded her first song at age 11. Growing up, she toured twice with the American Music Abroad Empire Tour, performing for thousands of people across Europe.
Once at Berklee College of Music, she studied under renowned singer-songwriter, Paula Cole, and Scarlet Keys. Emma has won numerous awards throughout her career, including the Excellence in Songwriting Scholarship at Berklee. An accomplished pianist and lyricist, Emma’s music captures the realities of love, loss, and triumph with a sentimentality well beyond her years, as can be heard on her self-titled album Emma Rae. She has also performed as a background vocalist for Carly Simon, been featured on numerous radio shows, and continues to perform live at various music venues around the Northeast.
Emma’s diverse performance experience offers her students a wealth of knowledge. A proficient vocalist, pianist, and trombonist, with an extensive original songwriting repertoire, she enjoys using her varied skills to help up-and-coming musicians reach their full potential and gain the tools and techniques they need to accomplish their goals.
