Involved with music from childhood, Jeffrey is a vocalist and guitarist and songwriter from Norwalk, CT. As a teenager his focus shifted from playing viola to studies in guitar and songwriting. Graduating from Brown University (’14) with a degree in Music Theory, History and Composition, his voice studies commenced there under the tutelage of Andrew Garland and Nancy Rosenberg.
In addition to his coursework, he was involved in a number of music groups — from musical theatre to composing for new music ensembles to directing/arranging for a cappella groups. Although jazz and improvisation was at the forefront of his musical interests, that wide range of musical experiences has made Jeffrey a versatile performer and writer, drawing from many styles and genres.
Following graduation from Brown, Jeffrey began studies at Manhattan School of Music for Jazz Voice, working with notable performers such as Gretchen Parlato, Theo Bleckmann and Kate McGary. At home in jazz clubs and in solo singer/songwriter settings, Jeffrey also has a passion for teaching and is excited to be a part of the team at The Pop Music Academy! In addition to voice and guitar, he has taught songwriting/arranging, improvisation, and musicianship/ear training. He enjoys working with his students at The PMA and helping them reach their fullest potential in music.
