A Stamford native, Lisa Occhino is an award-winning pianist, songwriter, singer, and entrepreneur. She graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music with a bachelor’s degree in music business/management. During her time at Berklee, she was awarded the Songwriting & Composition Scholarship, the Joseph Smith Scholarship (for entrepreneurship), the Justin Kantor Scholarship (for internships), and won first place in the BMI Foundation’s 2012 John Lennon Scholarship, a national songwriting competition.
Lisa has combined her love of music and her passion for entrepreneurship into a startup company called SongwriterLink, a songwriting collaboration website that matches up songwriters based on an algorithm and allows them to instantly collaborate via video chat. After three years of building the website, she launched the private beta version in December 2013.
Outside of her music and entrepreneurial ventures, Lisa is the managing editor at Sonicbids, the leading platform for bands to book gigs and market themselves online. She is also an active songwriter and performer, experienced on the piano, guitar, harmonica, ukulele, marimba, xylophone, and other mallet instruments. She has taught students aged 3-18 privately and has also performed live on television, radio, for private and company functions, concerts, music venues, and non-profit events. Lisa is a member of BMI and her original music is available in over 20 digital and mobile stores including iTunes and Amazon. She enjoys helping other up-and-coming artists and sharing her talents and knowledge with the students at The Pop Music Academy.
